TUESDAY...with HILDUR JOHANNESDOTTIR
Tuesday is Mars Day or Týr in Norse Mythology...
FIRE...Energy, Desires, Compassion, Action, Dance, Hero
What we did was start by listening to the music "Hekla" by Jón Leifs. We read and discussed some material we had about our theme. Meanwhile and afterwards we discussed the planet mars and how "she" relates us to desires, fire, war etc. We listened next to music played by drums. While we listened, we made poems related to our feeling for the subject. Then we thought about what to do with the poems. We choose a few to use, we made dances, we sang together an Indian canon and then we mixed everything for our show.
We found our power and we gave the audience the heat, the power and the aggression of the fire and also how spiritual and warm the fire can be. If our desires are for the community it is positive but when our desires are followed to serve our ego it leads to destruction.

FIRE

  • Where applicable, use wood as a renewable, carbon neutral heating source, as long as sustainably managed.
  • Use electricity as the last option for space heating.
  • Ensure boilers are well-insulated and serviced.
  • Consider alternative energy technologies - hydro, wind, solar power - change to an energy supplier who uses green technologies.
  • Use energy efficient light bulbs, turn lights off when not in use.
  • Do not leave things on standby - Europe´s standby energy requirements are equivalent to needing two power stations for this sole purpose.
  • Turn the thermostat on your heating down and wear more clothes instead.
  • Consider alternative transport fuels - biofuels, biodiesel, electric cars.
