  Checklist results

One of the objectivies of the project "Vi lærer af hindanden", was to look at the status of Local Agenda 21 work in the participants´ municipalities. A fundamental part of this, was when participants gathered data by using specifically designed checklists. Participants in each town were asked to interview three different ´players´ in the LA21 work; a representative from the municipality, from one company and from a nursery school. This was to achieve as broad information a possible about the status of LA21 work.
There were two different kind of checklists used for the project, one for the municipalities and another one for the companies and nursery schools. The one for the muncipalities covers policy making, areas of LA21 work, participation, training and international connections. For the companies and the nursery schools the main focus was on getting an overview of the environmental work in different aspects, such as garbage, sewage, water and other resources. Also, buildings, surroundings and work environment were covered. Additionally, there was a question on environmenal education specifically for the nursery schools.
The participants in the project came from 27 different municipalities. Checklists gathered were as follows:

The information gathered is good and thorough. However, there is a reason to be careful when interpreting the results. This is due to the fact that there are very few lists in each category. The fact that the lists were in English might also mean that there was not always clear understanding.
What stands out, is the good work done by the participants, who had to interview ´strangers´, be precise with the detailed checklists and send the results by computer. They certainly lived very well up the challenge.
Below are the main results from the participants´ research.  Click the category title.
